Private Residence
Security is extremely important at Cornwall Hill Estate, various methods are used to make sure visitors and contractors are closely monitored. The company responsible for security is also involved with other residential and corporate estates in the area. A good relationship exists between Cornwall and the local Community Policing Forum.
Living in the Estate
A large number of Cornwall Hill residents have lived in the area for decades, and the general feeling is that there is no other place like it. One resident remarked that “it has been the most wonderful home for our children. From babies in prams to children on jungle gyms to teens chilling on the Koppie, the estate has met all of their needs.
We as parents have always felt they were safe within the estate and so they have been able to explore and have freedoms that I think others may not have had, and we have had peace of mind.” Another long term resident shared that they “have been residents for 20 years, all of their children attended Cornwall Hill College, and as a family with two working parents, the convenience of the school being close to home was a huge plus.
The children’s caregiver used to push them around the park area near the postboxes in their prams, take them to the jungle gyms to play, would walk down to the equestrian centre to feed the horses, or fetch the kids at the end of a school day on foot as they grew bigger.”
Residential
The 230 hectare portion of land that has become known as Cornwall Hill Country Estate was sold in the 1990’s by the Irene Estate to the developers Kroon and Sons and EG Chapman. Proclamation of the estate took place in 1998. Now, more than 20 years later, Cornwall Hill Country Estate boasts a 9.5km perimeter wall and almost 10km of meandering tarred and paved roads that, given the state of suburban roads in general, have remained undamaged and stood the test of time. From the start, Cornwall Hill’s sturdy infrastructure and unique choice of large (approx. 10,000 sqm), medium (approx. 4000 sqm) and small (approx. 1000 sqm) properties have truly stood out in comparison to other similar housing estates in the surrounding area. It is an estate like no other, steeped in rich history and exuding a distinctive lifestyle experience of its own.
