Fernwood Estate comprises an extensive network of parks and open spaces.

In total 11 parks have been developed for recreational use and are interlinked by a 2.4km walking path around the perimeter of the estate.

The gardens are landscaped with a variety of species of trees, shrubs and plants attracting all sorts of bird life. Great emphasis is placed on ensuring that pre-dominantly indigenous and water-wise flora enjoy preference in the estate’s gardening agenda. The parks and gardens are irrigated via an automated computerised system making use of borehole water.

Established

Fernwood Estate was established in 2005 and is situated on 21 hectares of land on the Old Sir Lowry’s Pass Road on the outskirts of Somerset West. The secure gated village development boasts excellent views over False Bay, as well as lovely mountain views of the Hottentots Holland and Helderberg mountains. The gentle slope of the land allows for these good views.

Tranquility

A key feature of Fernwood Estate is the sense of tranquility you will experience while visiting or residing inside our secure gated village. Driving through the gates you can’t help but to slow down and to take a long look at the breathtaking vista of False Bay in the distance. The gates closing behind you will close the outside world for you and coming home will be the save place you are looking forward to.

Security

Entrance to the estate is controlled by means of security personnel, who is supported by Helderberg Crime Watch and Vetus Schola Security. The security system, which includes both electric fencing and cctv cameras, is the process of being upgraded to the latest technology. Residents make use of the MyEstate Life APP to organise visitors and contractors with digitally controlled correctness and little effort.

Exercise track

One of the best features of the estate is the exercise track that extends around the entire circumference of the estate allowing residents the opportunity to walk or run in the safety of the grounds and enjoy the beauty of the gardens and parks.
