The best thing about living on a farm, for me, is the absence of things.
Car horns, sirens, the odour of exhaust fumes, traffic in general, and of course, too many lights in the evening… nighttime on a farm is magical, especially when it’s really dark outside.
Smelling fresh air, feeling the breath of a gentle breeze on your cheek and seeing the stars and constellations in their full glory. Patiently planting and waiting to see the first sprouts of a newly planted field, seeing the first blooms, plucking the first ripe tomato or cucumber and eating it while walking the rows…
This is what I want and want for my children.
