Domestic projects are usually small and typically confined to a single home, sometimes just a single room. But when it comes to registering guarantees for big building projects there is much more complexity involved. This is because professional projects are significantly higher risk due to their size – the larger the building the higher the paint value and cost of labour involved.
To clarify what Plascon means by a guarantee, Plascon Market Manager: Professional, Carol Ras defines this as: “A formal fixed assurance (typically in writing) that certain conditions will be fulfilled, especially that a product will be repaired or replaced if not of a specified quality.”

Firstly, there’s a Plascon Product Guarantee, which is offered on projects where the paint value is between R100 000 and R249 999 and a Plascon specification has been written.

In the event of a proven product failure, Plascon undertakes to supply such materials and labour at no cost, that may reasonably be required to rectify the problem. The terms of the guarantee will be for the stated life expectancy commencing on the date of completion of a particular section of the work and subject to a pro-rata deduction of total cost of rectification.
And lastly, a Plascon Product Performance letter is offered where the applicator is not a Plascon contractor and no formal specification has been compiled but Plascon coating systems have been applied.
