The University’s Tshwane School for Business and Society (TSB) has recently signed a license agreement and accreditation partnership with the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and the Community Associations Institute of South Africa NPC (CAISA).

The licencing agreement means that the Professional Management Development Program (PMDP) courses previously provided by CAISA will not only be internationally recognised but will also form part of the TSB Executive Educational Program Structure

The Director of TSB, Prof Kobus Jonker says they are to be the sole provider and accreditation body for this important international programme designed to develop community managers in South Africa. “This is also in line with our vision to make a meaningful social impact in South Africa,” he adds.

CAI’s Chief Executive Officer, Thomas Skiba noted, “Our partnership with TSB expands the availability of CAI’s Professional Manager Development Program classes, opens new career opportunities for South Africans, and ensures a steady source of much-needed professionals to serve an ever-growing housing segment in South Africa and across the entire continent.

The Chairperson of CAISA, AJ van Rensburg comments: “With the partnership between CAI/ CAISA and TSB, the PMDP courses (M100 and the 6 x M200 courses) are quality approved by the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), Tshwane School for Business and Society and approved by the TUT Senate. The content of the PMDP courses has also been updated with South African content.

Johan Kruger, the driving force behind this endeavour excitedly added that the Participants taking part in any CAISA/TSB PMDP courses will now receive a certificate of completion from both TSB and CAI. One of the main objectives of CAISA, in terms of its Memorandum of Incorporation, has always been to educate and improve the quality of training of its members being Community Association Managers or members of the Management teams or Service Providers to Community Associations.

Estate Management as a profession has been in existence in the Republic of South Africa for several years, but until 2013 no formal educational programs were available for the industry. With the successful establishment of CAISA, as an International Chapter of CAI, the CAI Professional Management Development Program (PMDP) courses became available, enabling participants to educate themselves and the possibility to obtain the internationally recognised PCAM designation.

With the license agreement and accreditation partnership with TSB, these courses have now obtained substantial local recognition.
