Zane de Decker

Zane found his aptitude for property development early in his career. After graduating from UCT with a BSc in Property Studies, he pursued the complex and intriguing arena of asset management, finding that the assets he was drawn to most often were in the property sector.

His entrepreneurial streak rears strong when opportunity knocks and Zane made a bold move out of the corporate sector in 2012 to establish Proventus Property, a private-equity-based property and development firm. Zane attributes the success of Proventus to ability for identifying opportunities where others turn away. Not only has this served him well, but it has also led to his reputation of being a trendsetter amongst his peers. Relationships are important to him and Zane’s positive record with his investors has led to the birth of Flyt Property Investment, a Cape-based enterprising and pioneering property development company.

Time-out is as important to Zane as building a business. He finds balance in his life by spending time with his family, travelling, and zoning out on the mountains on his bicycle.

“Property and building things was a passion of mine as far as I can remember; I get particularly excited at the prospect of working on a new project. Creating, challenging the norm and producing stand-out property developments is my driving force. Naturally, if you are ticking all the boxes, Return on Investment is the all-important result.”

Property development is an exciting field and Cape Town an exciting place to be involved in. Being a cog in the upliftment, development and progress of an area is hugely important to me and, although often challenging, always extremely rewarding. Flyt Property Investment is the result of what I call many successful ‘follow-throughs’. Bold moves, changing the status quo have served us well and our track record in successful property development projects speaks for itself.
